A non-profit created and run by DJs, dancers, and promoters.
turn(the)tables on's mission is to use dance music culture to give back to the community and turn the tables on problems of inequity and injustice by harnessing the power of music, dance, and events.
Founded in December of 2015, we used that month to raise funds for our local Second Harvest Food Bank and helped turn(the)tables on hunger by providing around 2.5k extra meals to the community. Read about that here.
In March, we helped raise awareness of and set about closing the gender gap in dance music by seeking hundreds of petitions to dedicate DJ charts to female producers on International Women’s Day as a pledge for parity. Names like Collette, DJ Heather, the female:pressure collective, and many others supported, while major digital music retailers like Beatport, Traxsource, and Juno all responded to the campaign.
This April we're celebrating the life and legacy of Frankie Knuckles as part of a benefit for GMHC, the nation's leading provider of HIV and AIDS care. Proceeds will be donated in his memory. RSVP on Facebook or Resident Advisor.
